Lebanon modern!

15 - 18 September 2016 - part of Beirut art fair 2016
Beirut, lebanon | Beirut International Exhibition & Leisure Center

For the first time, BEIRUT ART FAIR will honor Lebanese women artists from the modernist period in LEBANON MODERN! - an exhibition dedicated to female painters and sculptors from 1945-1970.

Through a selection of works originating from both private collections and from the Lebanese Ministry of Culture, the exhibition will showcase the strength and creative energy of women artists who are often unknown to the general public. It will offer an opportunity to discover the works of these women who injected the Lebanese art scene with a tremendous dynamism, all while looking outward to new horizons and creating significant links between their country and the rest of the world, and particularly with the U.S.A.

The exhibition will include a selection of works by: Bibi Zogbé (1890-1973), Marie Hadad (1895-1973), Blanche Lohéac Ammoun (1912-2011), Saloua Raouda Choucair (b. 1916), Helen Khal (1923-2009), Etel Adnan (b. 1925), Cici Sursock (1926-2015), Yvette Achkar (b. 1928), Huguette Caland (b. 1931), Laure Ghorayeb (b. 1931), Juliana Séraphim (1934-2005), Nadia Saikali (b. 1936), and Seta Manoukian (b. 1945).
