Giorgio Morandi is one of the most recognizable and, at the same time, most enigmatic artists of the 20th century. His still lifes, always reduced to their bare essence, have become iconic works of modern art.

BOZAR has commissioned leading expert Maria Cristina Bandera to curate Giorgio Morandi: Retrospective. The result is a comprehensive overview of the artist and his characteristic themes and techniques, across an exceptional selection – 100 masterpieces on loan from 40 prestigious public and private collections – that includes oil paintings, drawings, etchings, and watercolors.

To illustrate Morandi’s lasting influence, Belgian artist Luc Tuymans is presenting several of his own works that dialogue with those of Morandi.
