JOHN BOCK: THE NEXT QUASI-COMPLEX

18 JULY - 24 SEPTEMBER 2018
FONDAZIONE PRADA | MILAN, ITALY

For this new project, German artist John Bock (b. 1965) will transform the ground floor of Fondazione Prada’s Podium exhibition space into his own eccentric and surreal world: a theater of the absurd overcoming the conventions of contemporary art, mixing dark comedy with philosophy, economics, music, fashion and fragments of daily life.

At the center of the exhibition are two large installations from the Collezione Prada: the mobile stage of When I’m looking into the Goat Cheese Baiser (2001) and the living room of Lütte mit Rucola (2006). The project also incorporates new experimental architectures, fragmentary walls, make-shift structures and a selection of existing artworks.

The Next Quasi-Complex will culminate in a live lecture on 8 September 2018, in which Bock and actors Lars Eidinger and Sonja Viegener will activate the mobile stage of When I’m looking into the Goat Cheese Baiser, navigating around the installations “like a fly around a carcass.”
