GALWAD: A STORY FROM OUR FUTURE, part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK and commissioned by Creative Wales, brings together the talents of 200 Welsh creatives and offers a glimpse into the future, by asking what would happen if the future tried to contact us, in a story told in real-time, live, on broadcast and digital, across a week in September.

GALWAD is an ambitious act of collective imagination with global relevance that began with a ‘world-building’ process led by Alex McDowell (Minority Report) and 120 people from across Wales. It invites audiences to explore the moral dilemmas and possibilities of a future impacted by a 1.8 degree rise in global temperatures and widespread social change.

The story, set in the present day and 30 years into the future, can be followed on social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok) and will culminate in a 4-hour broadcast on the UK’s free-to-view Sky Arts channel offering the chance to catch-up on the week’s events before the final live broadcast and a 60-minute drama set in Wales, 30 years in the future.

GALWAD is part of UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK, a celebration of creativity taking place in 2022, featuring ten major multi-site and digital creative projects that share new ideas and possibilities for the future.
