Auction at Sotheby's Paris on 6 December 2017

Sotheby's Paris is honored to offer this meticulously-chosen group of 35 works ranging from the post-war period to the contemporary era. Leading international artists are represented, including Jean-Michel Basquiat, César, Jean Dubuffet, Gilbert & George, Hans Hartung, Wifredo Lam and Georges Mathieu.

With consistency and flair, Alain and Candice Fraiberger assembled a group of exceptional artworks, the majority of which have been exhibited in the world's leading museums, including the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Centre Georges Pompidou, Tate Modern, the Stedelijk Museum, Palazzo Reale, the Whitechapel Gallery, the Carnegie Institute, the Grand Palais and Castello di Rivoli.

Iconic in this magnificent collection is the Head and Scapula painted by Jean-Michel Basquiat in 1983, already at the height of his art at the age of only 23.
