Each year, Maison Ruinart gives an international contemporary artist carte blanche to interpret its history and know-how through his or her art. In previous years, Liu Bolin (2018), Vik Muniz (2019), and David Shrigley (2020/2021) were invited to give their own artistic interpretation.

This year, Maison Ruinart has given carte blanche to the Berlin-based Danish artist Jeppe Hein (b.1974). For Hein, making and tasting champagne – from the moment the grapes are harvested to the moment the wine sparkles in the mouth – is a total sensory experience. He translated the essence of this into an art installation, Right Here, Right Now, that appeals to the 5 senses and summons the 4 elements – earth, water, air and fire – which are essential to champagne making.

After the launch event at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris, in April 2022, the carte blanche will travel around the world to continue to reveal itself. This ever-changing installation will also on display during the 59th Venice Biennale.
