The exhibition features around fifty prints spanning Roy Lichtenstein’s (1923–1997) career, many displayed publicly for the first time. It celebrates a major donation from the Roy Lichtenstein Foundation, giving the museum one of the world’s most significant collections of his prints outside the United States.
It highlights Lichtenstein’s role as a pioneer of Pop Art, inspired by comic books, advertising, and consumer culture. His bold colors, Ben-Day dots, and enlarged images transformed everyday visuals into fine art. Although Pop Art initially shocked critics, its accessible style quickly gained popularity through affordable posters and exhibition invitations.
The exhibition also explores Lichtenstein’s lifelong passion for printmaking, from his early experiments to technically advanced collaborations with leading printing studios. It includes masterpieces created using multiple printing techniques, alongside paintings and iconic prints donated in 2023. The exhibition reflects the Foundation’s mission to preserve and share Lichtenstein’s artistic legacy with the public.
