Since the early 1990s, Pierre Huyghe (b. 1962, France) has been working in diverse medias including films, objects, living environment and the exhibition itself as a form. His art is dynamic and modifies itself over time, often exceeding initial conditions of emergence with indeterminate developments that go beyond the artist’s control. In Huyghe’s contingent universe, a wide range of intelligent life forms, biotic and abiotic, continuously produce changing environments.

Huyghe conceives his exhibitions as an encounter with a sentient milieu, that perceives and generates new possibilities of alliances between events or things that unfold, indifferent to human presence.

With major loans from the Louis Vuitton Foundation and the Pinault Collection, the exhibition Offspring presents six key works. Their sensors capture sound, light and movement and each work perceives and influences others as well as the rhythm of the exhibition and the way it manifests itself.

The exhibition is sponsored by Ny Carlsberg Fondet, Det Obelske Familiefond, Augustinus Fonden og Lektor Peer Rander Amundsens Legat.
