Organized in collaboration with Tate (London), this retrospective will comprise about 100 works by David Hockney (born 1937). It will span all his career, from early works such as Woman with a Sewing Machine 1954 to the large-scale panorama In the Studio 2017. Key works will be exhibited together for the first time in Germany including:  The First Marriage (A Marriage of Styles I) 1962, Mr and Mrs Clark and Percy 1970-71, and My Parents 1977.

Chronologically presented, David Hockney. Works from the Tate Collection will be a journey through the many techniques used by Hockney since his days as a student at the Royal College of Art. It will highlight his constant search for new forms of expression, his investigation of the act of seeing, his experiments with perspective and the way images are perceived versus reality. Furthermore, a selection of his portraits and nudes will underscore his interest for interpersonal relationships and the male body.
