MODIGLIANI

23 November 2017 – 2 April 2018
Tate Modern | London, UK

Amedeo Modigliani (1884–1920) was a ground-breaking artist who pushed the boundaries of the art of his time. With nearly 100 works, this exhibition will re-evaluate this familiar figure, looking afresh at the experimentation that shaped his career.

Modigliani will bring together a selection of the artist's iconic portraits and exceptional examples of his lesser-known work in sculpture, including some of his Heads produced before WWI. A major highlight will be a group of his most famous nudes such as Seated Nude 1917 (RMFA, Antwerp) and Reclining Nude c. 1919 (MoMA, NY). The exhibition will also feature some of Modigliani's best-known depictions of his closest circle, who provided him with much-needed financial and emotional support.

Drawing on archival material and new research, a virtual reality room in partnership with leading VR platform HTC VIVE™ will invite viewers to step into Modigliani's Paris.
