The European Institute for Underwater Archaeology (IEASM) led by Franck Goddio discovered several votive objects in Thonis-Heracleion, including some unique votive barques made of lead and statuettes of the god Osiris. They eloquently underscore the significance of the Osiris cult and the annual festivities in his honour that were held in Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus.

Stele from Thonis-Heracleion, Bay of Aboukir, Egypt (SCA 277)

This intact stele (1.99 m high) bears the inscription of the Decree of Saϊs, which was commissioned by Nectanebo I (ruled 378–362 BCE). The stele came to light in the city of Thonis-Heracleion and is almost identical to the stele of Naukratis from the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The inscription clearly names where it was to be erected: Thonis-Heracleion.

Several ritual objects and votive offerings, like this bronze oil lamp, were found near a temple in Thonis-Heracleion. The lamp was likely used in the celebrations dedicated to the god Osiris, which were held regularly in Thonis-Heracleion and Canopus.
