LUMIÈRES: CARTE BLANCHE À CHRISTIAN LACROIX
19 NOVEMBER 2014 – 19 APRIL 2015
MUSÉE COGNACQ-JAY | PARIS, FRANCE
In celebration of its reopening, the Musée Cognacq-Jay, home to a collection of emblematic 18th century artworks, has offered designer Christian Lacroix a creative carte blanche.
Renowned for his collaborations with museums, Christian Lacroix has accepted the dual challenge of reimagining the “guiding narrative” of the museum’s exhibition spaces while exploring a concept that has shaped his own approach to art – the fascination exerted by 18th century.
The exhibition includes contributions from over 40 contemporary artists whom Lacroix has invited to reflect upon ten key themes present throughout Ernest Cognacq’s collections, all with a view to enhancing our understanding of the Age of Enlightenment and its continued relevance to our own era.
