Globes: Visions of the World

Until 2 June 2018

Louvre Abu Dhabi | Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Curated by Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF), Louvre Abu Dhabi's second special exhibition, Globes: Visions of the World, will explore the history of the spherical representation of the world and its scientific instruments from antiquity to the present day.

Starting with the great minds of ancient Greece, the exhibition follows humanity's never-ending quest for knowledge and adventure, highlighting, in particular, the fundamental contributions of Arab science at the confluence of civilizations.

160 works from the collections of Bibliothèque nationale de France (BnF) as well as outstanding loans will be on display, including more than 40 globes and spheres, rare archaeological remains, magnificent scripts, astrolabes and splendid world maps that immerse visitors in 2500 years of history.
