Abstract Expressionism

Abstract Expressionism will present an ambitious selection of works shedding new light on a diverse, complex, and multifaceted phenomenon which is often erroneously viewed as a unified whole.

The show will gather together more than 130 paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs from public and private collections across the world. It will include works by the principal artists of the movement - Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, David Smith, Clyfford Still, etc. - revealing an approach to painting that refused to be bound by any formula, celebrating instead individual diversity and freedom of expression.
