From its creation in 1976, the UniCredit Bank Austria FOTOGRAFIS Collection considered, and defended, photography as an artistic and creative medium in its own right. As a result, FOTOGRAFIS developed a collection in which all key aspects of artistic photography are represented, offering a representative cross-section of the history of international photography.

On the basis of the diversity and richness of the collection, Austrian artist Christian Kosmas Mayer (born in 1976) produces with Daguerre's Soup - Christian Kosmas Mayer x FOTOGRAFIS an individual narrative about the photographic medium based on new forms of presentation and critical response to photography.
