Georgia O'Keeffe

7 December 2016 - 26 March 2017
Bank Austria Kunstforum | Vienna, Austria

Bank Austria Kunstforum hosts this major retrospective exploring the profound importance of American modernist icon Georgia O’Keeffe.

The exhibition offers a comprehensive and insightful view into the artist’s œuvre. A highlight of the exhibition is O’Keeffe’s celebrated Jimson Weed, White Flower No. 1. This monumental work—the most expensive painting ever sold at auction by a female artist—represents a key example of O’Keeffe’s investigations into still life, particularly the flowers for which she is most famous.

Also on show is a selection of photographs of O’Keeffe taken by her husband Alfred Stieglitz and by other photographers, including Ansel Adams and Paul Strand. These images underscore the often problematic fusion of O’Keeffe’s artistic and personal life.

Georgia O'Keeffe is organized by Tate Modern, London in collaboration with Bank Austria Kunstforum, Vienna and the Art Gallery of Ontario, Toronto.
